Blurb :  Bertha Maude Anderson has no inkling of how famous she will become. Inzared finds herself lured into the world of the Gypsies while clinging to her own roots and trying to break free of the chains that keep her from her destiny.  Inzared and Paytre, the elephant trainer, fall in love and plan for their future as the troupe wends its way through the pre-Civil War south.  Someone is trying to sabotage the Romanoff Brothers Circus and Cecil may be in danger. Together, the two lovers search for answers as to who may be the culprit.  Lileth, the trapeze artist, hates Inzared and is spiteful at every turn, thinking she has taken Paytre away from her.  Vadoma, the old Gypsy fortune-teller, teaches Inzared her craft, although she admonishes the girl to be wary, that danger lurks nearby.  

Mala, Inzared’s friend and part of the famous “Zelenka Bareback Riders” resolutely protects and stands by her and Shandor and Udo Romanoff, owners of the circus, reluctantly give her the sought-after position of elephant rider in the show.  Inzared learns Gypsy customs, and finds the people she has grown to love misjudged by her own kind, even as she tries to become one of the colorful tribe.  Finding life on the road no easier than on the farm, Inzared is ridden with guilt for running away and young woman wonders if she should go back to her family or continue on her unpredictable journey with the Gypsy Circus she has come to call home.

Wow! This excites both the senses and the emotions. I became one with the circus and Inzared and love the historical detail. This story of a courageous young girl is an inspiration as well as an exciting ride though the many turns in her life. Buy a ticket. You won't regret it.

Inzared, Queen of the Elephant Riders, is a beautifully crafted historical tale from the 1800s. Author L. Leander has done her research well, and the story of a young Appalachian girl who feels compelled to leave her family and run off to join the Gypsy Circus captured me from the first pages. The characterizations are strong, the dialogue rings true, and Leander has successfully captured an atmosphere of gypsy intrigue, romance and mystery. I love strong female characters and Inzared is that in spades. A great debut from a new author, you'll like this one.

Inzared, Queen of the Elephant Riders is a wonderful debut release from L. Leander. The story follows Bertha Maude Anderson, a girl who grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina in the 1800s. She is unsure of her place in the world, feeling she wants more than her small town home in Appalachia. When a gypsy circus comes through her town, she falls in love with the lifestyle the gypsy troupe leads--as well as being intrigued by a young man named Paytre and his elephant, Cecil--and finds herself convinced to leave her home and family behind to join The Romanoff Brothers Circus as Inzared, Queen of the Elephant Riders. The story is told from Inzared's point of view as she assimilates into they gypsy culture, finds love, uncovers a mystery that threatens the circus and the well-being of its performers and animals, and settles into her namesake as Queen of the Elephant Riders.

L.Leander has done an excellent job of accurately capturing the time period and the gypsy culture and you are truly pulled into the world of a travelling gypsy circus in the 1800s. The characters are very likable and realistic with dialogue that feels natural and fits the characters well. You really get to know the characters and connect with them. The story has a little bit of everything you could want in a book: romance, mystery, suspense, adventure, tragedy, and comedy. This is truly a book that can be enjoyed by just about anyone, no matter your typical genre preference.

This is L.Leander's debut novel, but from the quality of the writing, you would never guess it. Inzared is wonderfully written, plotted, and edited. Once I had started it, it was a challenge just to put it down. If this is only the beginning of what she has to offer, I can't wait to see what's next!

Gwen - 5 STARS-- "The beauty and grandeur of times now lost to us are rediscovered in Empyreal Fate, the first of what I hope is many in this fantasy saga. Empyreal Fate is a story of young love but more importantly, it is a story of sweeping passions. Hatred, revenge, and what it means to fight for the things that you treasure are among the themes explored in this tale.

Though the main characters are compelling, I found myself sympathizing with a few of the minor characters deeply as well because of the subtleties that they display throughout the course of events. Of them all, I admit to a special fondness for Drevan. While I can't say too much for fear of revealing plot details, I grew to understand his actions even while I didn't always agree with them. 

The character motivations fascinated me throughout Fate and I look forward to watching how they continue to change and intertwine as the saga continues.Another aspect of the novel that I particularly enjoyed was the language that Hunter employs throughout. She casts a magical spell, evoking the sense of her world without making it distant. She is clearly kin to Tolkien with the way that she employs thoughtful and creative use of language, magic, and detail. 

A beautiful look into another universe... I recommend you take a peek for yourself!"

It truly is a world of forbidden, yet necessary, love for without it the world cannot be whole. Both kingdoms, man and elf, have become rotten from the inside out. Each side feels this, knows this, but no one will admit to its existence. In an effort to find a mutual connection, Darrion and Amarya start down a path which can only end one way.

The book is very intriguing, drawing one into a story that is very much alive. It is told from several character point of views, giving further insight into the distinctive world as each sees it. Once it begins, it does not let up, but carries the reader though until the last words on the last page, and then leaves you desiring to know more. It is nice to know the author intends to continue the series, and I very much look forward to the next installment. If you like reading about new worlds, this is definitely a keeper!"
 
Beth - 5 STARS-- "Empyreal Fate is a story of the land of Llathala. Llathala is a land occupied by elf and human and they have a tenuous peace treaty which is slowly unraveling. War seem eminent, corruption from within both sides wish to rend this land apart for personal gain. Darrion, human son to a farmer's family runs across Amarya, elf princess, in the woods while hunting for food. Can Darrion and Amarya overcome the forbidden friendship, feeling of love, an evil possession and ultimately fight to save their people from the corruption that lies within.

Empyreal Fate truly is a wonderful story telling of a land created by Rachel Hunter's fantastic imagination. She utterly enwraps you into a totally new world that elves, fairies and humans live and fight for survival. I love the way she uses language to make you feel that you are in another time, era, or in this case world. Empyreal Fate had me from the Prologue till the end.
